Identification
- Forms dense tufts, often with dead midribs (rachis) present
- Dark-green fronds are narrow, up to 30 cm long and once
pinnate. The petiole (leaf-stalk) and rachis (midrib) are blackish.
- The pinnae (or leaflets) are more/less equal-sized and
generally oblong
- Long, narrow sori (on undersides of pinnae)
Habitat
Old walls, cliffs, scree and in crevices on rock which are
rich in lime

Further information
This species is included in the early summer flowering
plants project which is a collaboration between the National Biodiversity Data
Centre and the BSBI. It is hoped we can collect valuable data to improve our
knowledge of the current distribution of some common plants. All data will be
fully validated by both partners before loading to Biodiversity Maps and being
made available to the BSBI.
