Causes cankers on tree trunks and die back of leaves.
Ecology
Likely to impact on commercial forestry and native oak species if allowed to establish and spread in Ireland.

Pathway and vector description
Likely introduced on nursery plants, most likely Rhododendron or Viburnum based on plant testing (Brennan et al., 2008). Monitoring and eradication program is in place to prevent further spread.

Irish distribution
Established - Restricted distribution. Mainly recorded on Rhododendron and Viburnum spp, it has also been recorded on Japanese larch. Of the 4000 samples collected between 2003 and 2007 percentage occurrence was: 8% (2003); 2% (2004); 19% (2005); 10% (2006); and 16% (2007) (Brennan et al., 2008).
