Identification


  • Medium sized solitary species (10-12mm)
  • Summer species: July-August
  • Thorax with pale hairs (lost with age)
  • Both males and females with thin bands of pale hair on the abdomen
  • Males generally smaller than females, with hairier faces

Habitat

Some association with woodland but also known from dry heath, grasslands and coastal sites. Has recently been collected in a number of rural horticultural gardens.
