Identification


  • Large sized solitary species (13-15mm)
  • Spring and summer flight period
  • Thorax black with sparse pale hairs
  • Abdomen marked with red (particularly spring form)
  • Males generally smaller than females
  • Spring records of A. rosae were previously recognised as A. stragulata

Habitat

A. rosae has not been recorded since 1896. A. stragulata has not been recorded since 1977. Habitat associations unknown.
