Further information
A native of north America and a rare casual in Ireland. Can be a locally persistant weed, possibly introduced with imported plants or trees. The common name for it is 'Miner's lettuce' as it was eaten as a leaf vegetable by the Californian minors during the gold rush for its rich vitamin C content to combat scurvy. The leaves can also be eaten as a salad.
