- Small-medium sized solitary species (7-8mm)
- Black with a shiny abdomen and brownish legs
- Males are generally smaller and have a slightly more elongate abdomen
- Can be confused with L. nitidiusculum, L. villosulum, L. punctatissimum, L. fratellum, L. lativentre

Polylectic - Hieracium, Vaccinium, Ranunculus, Rubus
Holartic distribution; in the Palaearctic from Ireland to Siberia, south to the Pyrenees, north to northern-Finland
