Identification
- Large sized solitary species (11-16mm)
- Females have grey/ginger hairs on the thorax and upper bands of the abdomen, and dense red hairs on the under surface of the abdomen
- Males have an obvious flattened fore leg (for digging) which is yellow and dense blond hairs on the face
- Males could be confused with M. maritima
Habitat
Not common. Known from a range of locations including parks and gardens
