  • Thorax black
  • Both males and females with red and black abdomen
  • Males generally slightly smaller than females
  • Could be confused with other Sphecodes species in Ireland

Rare. Habitat associations unknown.

Cleptoparasite. Breeds in nests of Halictus rubicundus
