Subcoccinella vigintiquattuorpunctata | 24-spot Ladybird
Adult: 3mm to 4mm in length. Body deep red with 24 black spots. The elytra is covered with fine dense hairs that are visible with a small hand lens. The pronotum is the same deep red as the elytra, and it also has fine hairs.
Feeds on leaves of herbaceous plants
There is only one historic record of 24-spot Ladybird from the island of Ireland. It was found on cliffs along the Antrim coast in 1902.
