Identification

Adult: 4mm to5mm in length. Body is red with 11 black spots. Scutellum is white and bordered by small white triangles. The pronotum is black with white squares on the front edge and a thin border on the side. Legs are black. 

Preferred environment

Seems to have a preference for dry sites, such as dunes and quarries

Feeds on aphids

Is found around the coast and along river valleys, particularly in the north of Ireland
